44 Degrees North Huckleberry Vodka

Posted by 80proof On July - 10 - 2009

44nIdaho. 44 Degrees North Huckleberry Vodka.
This premium American vodka is made from Idaho potatoes, distilled five times, filtered with pure Rock Mountain spring water from the Snake River Aquifer, and infused with all-natural huckleberry flavor (Idaho’s official state fruit). It is the first and only vodka approved to wear the Idaho Potato Commission’s official seal. Perfumed with a creamy mouthfeel, this vodka is 70 proof so it can be enjoyed alone or in a high-end cocktail.

“Aw, man, I just HATE infused spirits! But this fine vodka, barrelled with fresh mountain-grown huckleberries, sneaked in under my purist force field and, once it hit my palate, well, that was that. This is just simply delicious vodka and it’s not, in any way, heavy-handed or overdone. It may, in fact, be the best infused anything I’ve ever tasted. Light, fresh, aroamtic but not cloying, this is a mad thing to put into the hands of someone who understands and enjoys drink blending. It even has me dreaming up new concoctions, just like it has at least a hundred of the East Coast’s better bartenders. 90 POINTS” - Steve Body, Seattle Spirits Examiner

Optu Sonoma County Vodka

Posted by 80proof On July - 10 - 2009

bottleoptuCalifornia. Optu Russian River Valley Vodka is
distilled from Sonoma County Chardonnay Grapes. Clear. Honeycomb, nougat, and granola aromas follow through on a soft entry to a dryish medium body with meringue and golden raisin notes. Finishes with a clean, lightly spicy fade. Very smooth and flavorful.

“Clean as mineral water. Smells enticingly of ripe grapes, yellow fruits (guava, kiwi), and has no trace of TCA; aeration makes the bouquet turn more linear and focused on spirits and less fruity. Entry is medium-weighted, damn near succulent in its ambrosial aspect, and deep in earthy/soil-like character; midpalate is long, full, minerally, and grapy, but neither fat nor jammy, just nice and grapy. Ends on a clean, smooth and substantial note.” - Spirit Journal June 2009:

Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey

Posted by 80proof On July - 10 - 2009

k95-new-labelIreland. The Knappogue Castle is one of the few single malt whiskeys from Ireland.

The Knappogue Castle legacy began with a man named Mark Edwin Andrews nearly half a century ago. His Knappogue Castle 1951, named after the castle in Ireland that he owned, is the oldest and rarest Irish whiskey in the world.

His son, Mark, continues his father’s legacy by selecting the finest Irish single malt, aging it to perfection and bottling it on a vintage basis.

Knappogue Castle 1995 is the latest in a series of award-winning, vintage dated single malts under the Knappogue label. It was triple distilled one batch at a time in copper pot stills, aged in bourbon casks and bottled in 2007.

Spicy and complex with graceful, lovely flavors of toasted vanilla, grass, sweet herbs, lavender and honeysuckle.

Jefferson Bourbon Whisky

Posted by 80proof On July - 10 - 2009

jeffersonswhiskyKentucky. Jefferson’s Very Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky. The Jefferson is a very small batch, handcrafted bourbon, which has been aged in the heart of metal clad warehouses to accentuate the extreme temperatures that Kentucky is blessed with, forcing the bourbon to expand deep into the barrel and pull out the prevalent flavors of the wood. These flavors of vanilla, caramel and assorted fruits assure an incredibly smooth taste and finish.

There is no easier drinking bourbon whiskey than this polished Kentucky gold. Jefferson’s is as smooth as it gets.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh and smooth with velvety peach and vanilla.

Taste: Very soft start, smooth and sweet with hints of berry and citrus.

Finish: Delicate and warm with a return of vanilla, cream and toast.
